I am so sorry I have been negligent about posting food recalls and related issues lately. There's been another undisclosed allergen report you should know about, so I decided it is time to pick up these posts again.

Here are the details you need to know:

Variety: Vanilla Flavor
Production Code: 161
Expiration Date: 10.4.19

Brand: Matzot Aviv / Golden Heart

These products do not mention peanuts in the allergen listings but it should note that it may contain traces of peanuts. These products are being removed from store shelves so they can be relabeled.

Mislabeled Products - Missing ingredient and Allergen Warning

Hecht Products Ltd. announced that the following products were mislabeled, due to a printing error:


Brand: Penina Rosenblum
Product Name: Gluten Free Sesame Sticks
Package Size: 150g


Brand: Penina Rosenblum
Product Name: Gluten Free Sesame Cookies (עוגיות מזרחיות)
Package Size: 150g

Despite the fact that the picture on the label shows products with sesame seeds, and the names of the products in English contain the word "sesame", sesame seeds were left off the ingredient list and the allergen list.

These products CONTAIN sesame, and should NOT be eaten by anyone with a sesame allergy!

While they do not mention anything about refunds, I recommend anyone with a sesame allergy who  has purchased one or both of these products should request a refund from the company.

Allergen Warning (Peanuts)

Today's announcement is about a mislabeled product:

Rami Levy Brand Nut Muesli 

400g and 800g packages

Barcodes 7290015681896 and 7290015681827

The packaging is missing an allergen warning - the product contains peanuts, as listed in the ingredient panel, but does not list peanuts in the allergen warning.

Consumers who are allergic to peanuts are warned NOT to eat this product!

Otherwise, it is safe to eat. They are working to correct the labels.

Recall to Correct Allergen Warning (Chocolates)

Ornat Food Industries has announced that the following products should contain a MILK allergen warning, and do not:

Chunky dark chocolate 68% cocoa solids, with walnuts and raisins (marked kosher pareve)

Dark Chocolate Squares with Ground Coffee Beans (marked kosher dairy) 

Dark Chocolate Squares with Ground Cocoa Beans (marked kosher dairy)

This affects all of the chocolates listed above from all dates up to and including 20.12.17

The company is removing the products from store shelves. Anyone with a milk allergy who bought these products should call the company at 09-891-3399 with questions.

Undisclosed Traces of Peanuts -- Recall list

If you or a loved one are allergic to peanuts, you NEED this information.

Another batch of industrial garlic seems to be contaminated with peanuts, and Soglowek has issued a list of products that are affected. (I would not be surprised if other companies follow suit in the next few days. I hope to keep you updated as information comes out.)

Shelf stable breads imported by "Diplomat" and sold under the label "Mestemacher" are mislabeled and do not disclose possible allergens.

Please be aware that the following products should be labeled with allergen warnings:

"Whole Rye Bread", barcode 7290003054183

"Rye Bread with Sunflower Seeds", barcode 7290003054206

"Rustic Rye Bread", barcode 7290003054213

"Westphalia-style Pumpernickel Rye Bread", barcode 7290003054220

The four varieties listed about may contain traces of: Soy, Sesame, Nuts, and Milk

"Three-Grain Rye Bread", barcode 7290003054213, may contain traces of Soy, Nuts, and Milk

"Rye Bread with Muesli",  barcode 7290003054176, may contain traces of Soy and Milk

These warnings apply to all batches of these breads, with any expiration date up to 15.2.18

The company is taking action to relabel the products. Anyone who is allergic to the allergens listed above should excercise caution with these products.

Mars from Holland and Mars from England warn that the HEBREW labels on a number of products do not have correct Allergen Warnings. The ingredients list should prevail - if you are allergic to an item listed in the ingredients, DO NOT EAT THE PRODUCT, even if  your allergen is not listed in the allergen warning!

As I expected, there are even more warnings about undisclosed peanuts in a number of foods.
(The culprit appears to be a batch of garlic powder that was mixed with peanuts!)

Sanlakol announced a recall of the following products that contain traces of peanuts without a dislosure on the label:

Yachin and Pri Mevorach brands Harissa - Hot Pepper Sauce - in 2.5 kg, 570g, and 100g packages

with use by dates of 3/2019, 4/2019, and 5/2019 and with production codes that fall between 16-084 thru 16-138

Undisclosed Traces of Peanuts

Pri Chen warned that the garlic powder used as an ingredient in certain pickles contains undisclosed traces of peanuts.

The products are:
 
"Cucumbers in Salt" with expiration dates between 18/05/19 and 25/05/19 in packages with drained weights of: 4.9 kg, 1.75 kg, 348 grams, and 320 grams.

The company is recalling the products from the supply chain.

Anyone with a peanut allergy is warned NOT TO EAT THESE.

Meir Bagel issued a warning that the following products contain undisclosed traces of peanuts:

"Shtuchaleh" Sweet Chili flavor, 300g packages

"Shtuchaleh" Sweet Chili flavor, 40g packages

with expiration dates between 22/12/2016 and 19/01/2017

"Shtuchaleh" is the name the company gave to their flat pretzel products

The products are being recalled to correct the packaging.

Anyone who has a peanut allergy who has purchased these products SHOULD NOT EAT THEM.

Strauss Dairies issued the following warning:

Certain "Symphony" Cheese Products were made using a spice mix that contains traces of peanuts.

 

Anyone with a peanut allergy SHOULD NOT eat the following products:





Symphony 5% Cheese with Garlic and Pepper, barcode 7290106729865, with use by dates between 8/7/2016 and 10/7/2016

AND

Symphony 25% Cheese with Garlic and Pepper, barcode 7290106729865, with use by dates between 8/7/2016 and 10/7/2016

The company stresses that the product is ONLY unsafe to use for people with a peanut allergy.
