Filing Israeli Taxes - FREE Help is Available!

Every year, many of us have to file a yearly tax report with the Israel Tax Authority.

Many, many people pay an accountant to handle this report, but did you know that in some cases you can also get FREE help?

Here's the deal:

The Israel Tax Authority runs Free Clinics for Atzma'im with income from self employment up to 60,000 NIS using Form 137, and other people who need to file a tax report using Form 1301.

Find this help HERE:

Every Regional Tax Office (except Eilat and Tel Aviv - details below), until July 9, 2020, Sunday - Thursday from 1pm - 6:00pm. Some offices may be closed on certain days of the week. I recommend calling before you go to verify they are open!

In Eilat, the clinic will be available only on Mondays and Wednesdays. In Ashdod and Rishon Letzion the clinic is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

In Tel Aviv, there is a special Resource Center dedicated just to this service, and it will remain open until July 29, 2020. Find it at Rechov Shefa Tal 12, Tel Aviv.

Good luck, and don't wait to do your taxes! Better just to get it done with, right?

NOTE: The Tax Authority is not offering assistance with other issues at these clinics. They are ONLY for getting help filing your yearly tax report.

Great Resource - The Jerusalem Market

partner promotion

I just found out about this great new website, The Jerusalem Market, and I am so happy to be able to introduce them to you all.

English speakers in Jerusalem - this site is FOR YOU! This is THE place to buy and sell things in Jerusalem. You can list anything you want to sell, from the smallest item to a whole household's worth of furniture. You don't need to code or do anything difficult to make your listing - they'll take care of putting up your listing for you once you contact them. They make it easy and FREE to list your item - just fill out a form or send them a whatsapp.

If you're buying a small item, they have a partner who will deliver it to you for a flat rate of 20 NIS, to most parts of the capital city. If you buy a large item, they have delivery options too! (Delivery is at the buyer's expense - but it's a super convenient option. I know I've bought furniture and then seriously struggled to figure out how to get it home. This way you won't get stuck standing in the street with a dresser - been there, done that!)

They have even figured out a way to reach the people who don't browse online: they send a weekly catalog including EVERY ITEM listed on their site by email to their mailing list! Those people can then contact the sellers, too!

So if you're looking to reach a wider market with things you're selling, The Jerusalem Market is where you need to be.

They also offer really reasonable premium packages for upgraded listings.

Here's a screenshot of some items listed there right now - you can see that people are selling everything you can imagine! This looks like a great way to get a Jerusalem bargain and an eco-friendly purchase, as there are a lot of people who buy nice things and then they end up moving or leaving the country not long after. This is a great way to save some resources!

So if you're looking to buy something and Jerusalem is convenient for you, you should totally add The Jerusalem Market to your list of places to look!

Have you used this site? Let me know in the comments how it went!

Vegan Chocolate Chip Squares

I baked some cookies. I mean cookie bars. Chocolate chip squares. Whatever name you prefer.

The kind of thing you bake when you need cookies around the house but you don't have any intention of actually taking the time to shape cookies...

Do I need an excuse about why? I don't think I do! After all, we all have the same excuse. It's the middle of a global pandemic. I needed cheering up. There were no snacks on hand.

See, I have plenty of excuses!

Anyhow I just wanted to share some virtual cookies with all of you!

Enjoy!

These are vegan.

Recipe:

2 T. chia seed, soaked in 2/3 cup water
1/2 cup oil
1.5 cups demarrara sugar (what I had on hand, use the sugar you prefer)
splash of vanilla extract
2 cups white spelt flour
dash of salt
1 tsp baking soda

1/2 bag mini chocolate chips

I mixed it all together in a big bowl, chocolate chips at the end, and spread it out on a large cookie sheet.

Baked at 180 C for about 20 minutes, it could have been a bit more.
I'm really not a scientist, sorry.

Cut into squares, and eat them... probably best to share them with your family!

(Great with coffee!)

Catch ya later!

Groo Mask Deals

(this post contains affiliate links. When you click and make a purchase, I may get paid a commission. Thanks in advance for your support)

Shop from Home!

Despite our attempts to stay away from people, we've come to realize that this Coronavirus problem is probably going to be around for a while. And that means creating a new normal. While ideally, I would love to just live life and do what some people are doing - pretending there is no pandemic, walking around unmasked, having guests and hosting parties - I don't think that is the most responsible course of action. And yet, I don't want to be shut up in my home for months on end.

So, I'm doing my best to sort out fact from fiction, and do what works for my conscience, while doing what we can to protect our mental health as well. Because after all, even the biggest introverts need some social interaction, too. This pandemic life is hard.

So I will be super up front. We are maintaining physical distance from people, in as much as that is possible. We are being super careful about cleaning our hands, and sanitizing high touch surfaces. And we are being careful to wear masks outside of our home and yard.

(I must say, I think if the long term outcome of this pandemic is that people are more aware of hand hygiene, we will be in such a better place EVENTUALLY.)

Even if it's uncomfortable, even if it feels weird and unnatural, a mask goes a long way towards stopping the spread of germs. Let's all do our part and help keep our communities safer and healthier. We all know someone who may be high risk; someone we know and love is most likely in a vulnerable population. We can protect them and the loved ones of our friends and neighbors - even the ones we don't know - by simply wearing a mask AND maintaining a safe distance (at least 2m is recommended). It's a small discomfort we can put up with in order to prevent someone else from suffering.

Note: a mask is not a substitute for common sense. Practice good hygiene, stay away from people who are coughing and sneezing, don't go out if you're coughing and sneezing. Be thoughtful and careful!

Anyhow, I wanted to make it easier for everyone out there to find a way to wear a mask when outside.

Here's information about some of the specific kinds of masks you can find there (but not all):

Face protectors (5 of them, for about 90 NIS, free shipping) - these are reusable as long as you take the time to properly sterilize them:

Disposable face masks for about 1.60 NIS per mask, not including shipping. Shipping is between 16 - 25 NIS. Disposable face masks should not be reused:

Child size disposable face masks:

Click here to go to Groo and buy these

Washable cotton face masks - 3 sizes available - This deal comes to 5 NIS per mask, plus a shipping fee. You can't choose your pattern, though:

Thanks for making an investment in society with your purchase of masks!
The more we demonstrate that we understand that the use of masks is not just about us, it's about the vulnerable people around us, the more we can hope that others will also show they care.

Here's to HEALTH!

Deal: Master Slicer!

(this post contains affiliate links. When you click and make a purchase, I may get paid a commission. Thanks in advance for your support)

Shop from Home!

Currently, we're (at least my household) is trying to avoid going to crowded places. You know how a pandemic can do that, right? So that means I've been shopping from home as much as possible, so I can stay out of stores. I like fresh air, so I'm all for going outside, but I don't like the idea of being inside a closed building with lots of other people right now, from a world-health sort of perspective.

SO I figured I should share some of my favorite deals! Earlier I shared a great olive oil deal, and now I found a deal for making salad prep SO MUCH EASIER!

This Master Slicer is such a handy tool, we love ours!
This deal gets you one for 99.90, or two for 197.90 - either way, Boxit shipping is 15.90. Plus you'll get a free vegetable peeler with your order.
(This is cheaper shipping than when I bought it, by the way, and I didn't get the peeler!)

Click here to go to GROO to buy this deal! This deal won't last, though - so if you want it, you've got to grab it TODAY!

I just stocked up and now I am set for a while with all the olive oil I could possibly want!

(And you might know that I use olive oil a lot. It's my preferred oil for salads and even cooking!)
