FREE things!

Sometimes we all need to chill, and it's great to have some options for free entertainment!

Obviously, everyone knows about the myriad of free parks and places to explore around the country (don't worry, they're easy to find!), but sometimes I want to stay at home and chill and watch a movie.

But movies are not usually available for free! There are a lot of "free" steaming sites that are not actually free - they might only show a trailer, or they might give your computer a virus!

So many of us pay for access to online content - it's the best way to get full access and avoid delays and viruses...

But did you know that sometimes there really are legit ways to watch for free?

Check these out:

Watch 4,000+ free movies online at Open Culture

Access 1,000+ free audio books at Open Culture

Access free educational resources at Open Culture

There are also courses and other opportunities at Open Culture - definitely something to check out.

Check out this website for access to free movies available on a vairety of paid websites - they often have a promo with a free movie. This site shows you what's available for free access right now.

You might also want to check out this guide to the best safe and legal streaming sites: Click HERE

I'm sure you've got your own favorites for free movies and shows - drop a comment below and let me know which one you like!

Some of my favorite recent purchases

This post contains affiliate links. This means that if you click on a link and make a purchase, I may receive a small commission, at no additional cost to you! Thanks for your support!

You probably know I'm a pretty price-conscious shopper. I really try hard to make my shekels go as far as possible, so I'm a pretty picky shopper. I try to pair great deals with coupon codes (don't forget about the mastercard savings you can get on the 10th of the month) and save as much money on my purchases as possible. I'm posting some of my favorite recent Amazon purchases:

5-pack of 64GB flash drives for a great price! (right now over 30% off the regular price)

Box of 90 Gallon-size freezer bags (I can't find these for anywhere near this price near me!)

Pimple patches. The reviews are in - these seem to work miracles. And the price is awesome!

Second Skin patches. These are THE BEST thing for blisters. And right now, they have a great price!

Allergy medicine. I stocked up on this Kirkland brand version so that I could save a little money (it works out a little cheaper than what Kupat Cholim charges me for this number of this kind of pills)

Bamboo toothbrushes. Eco-friendly AND super affordable!

Get all the deals in my groups: Israel Deals Made Easy and Live in Israel. Shop Online, and my new public group, Kosher Frugal)!

Things to know about ordering from Israel: Shipping takes time, but lately, my orders have, for the most part, arrived well ahead of schedule - they seem to be building in a lot of extra delivery time to cover worst-case scenarios, but most packages arrive much faster.

Amazon's prices change frequently but they're really great about letting you know if an item in your cart has changed price - so if you found one and deliberated about it, you'll know if something changed when you decide to complete your purchase.

Sometimes free shipping offers disappear, so please check carefully before you order. Just remember - you can avoid VAT and other import fees by staying below the $75 tax threshold for any single order! If you do go over, as you will if you're buying a computer, you will see exactly what you'll pay in taxes at checkout. I only do this if I'm actually buying a product that costs more than $75. And I don't add any other small things to these orders, because once you're over, you're over and you'll pay fees on the entire order.

For smaller purchases, I place separate orders that each total under $75.

If you're in the USA and buying a gift for someone in Israel, please follow those guidelines, too - or be prepared to prepay all taxes and fees. You'll see them before you checkout, so don't worry about surprises. You will need to enter the recipient's ID number at checkout too, so the package can clear customs.

Hope you found this helpful!

  • Keep your order under $75 to avoid paying VAT!!
  • Spread out your orders. If you want to buy more than $75 worth of items from one website, and you have the option of splitting your order - DO IT. BUT don't order more than $75 worth on any given day to the same shipping name/address/ID. If you do, customs may combine your orders and charge you. Give it about 3 days between orders. Best to ship to a different name using a different ID for customs, so you can order it all on the same day.
  • Always look for the free shipping option - usually it's to a pickup spot.

I was so excited when my order came to $74.64 after the discount was applied, and with free delivery! Talk about maximizing savings while avoiding import taxes! I hope you're just as successful!

Enjoy and happy savings!

Great News! Israel's New "Do Not Call" List

BIG NEWS!!

Israelis can now put their cellphone numbers and landline phone numbers onto the new "Do Not Call" List. When you do this, you will be protected from receiving unsolicited sales calls.

AND, if you still receive an unsolicited sales call, you'll be able to fill out an online complaint form so the company will be fined.

This is really big news - we've been waiting YEARS for this!
I highly recommend you sign up and avoid having to worry that you'll get talked into paying for something you don't want.

I also recommend to those of you out there who have an older (senior) family member to look out for - sign up their number! The form offers the option to sign up on behalf of another person - use it!

Note: this will not stop all calls. Some calls, like those from companies you have a contract with, are allowed, and if you reach out to a company for information, they are allowed to call you and follow up.

This is about those truly unsolicited calls.

Here's how to sign up:

The sooner you sign up, the sooner the protections go into place. The law goes into effect on Jan 1, 2023, but only applies once your number has been in the database for 2 weeks.

If you receive an unsolicited sales call, you can report this violation by filling out the form here: https://govforms.gov.il/mw/forms/DncComplaint@Cpfta.gov.il

Hope you found this helpful!

If so, let me know below! And if you want to keep in touch, please follow my FB page!

Cyber Monday Deals

This post contains affiliate links. This means that if you click on a link and make a purchase, I may receive a small commission, at no additional cost to you! Thanks for your support!

Even in Israel, everyone's been abuzz with sales. And who can resist buying some things you need, and paying less?

So besides all my posts on Facebook (go check out my groups: Israel Deals Made Easy and Live in Israel. Shop Online, and my new public group, Kosher Frugal), I figured I would share some of my favorite Cyber Monday deals that are available on Amazon with free shipping to Israel. So here goes:

Kindle International Edition for over 30% off the regular price!

Tons of party games, like Exploding Kittens and Incohearant (30% off)

Craft Kits - Bracelet making kits, an Origami kit (60% off!)

There are lots more to be found but I'm being called away! Sorry!

And lately, my orders have, for the most part, arrived well ahead of schedule - they seem to be building in a lot of extra delivery time to cover worst-case scenarios, but most packages arrive much faster.

Dance Supplies we buy from Amazon!

This post contains affiliate links, so if you click on a link and make a purchase,
I may receive a small commission. Thank you!

Dance. It's an expensive hobby once you get into the competition scene. Our girls have reached that stage where we're spending way more money on their dancing than we ever imagined we would.

Some things we buy online. For example, special bandages and blister treatments!

My dancer daughters can't live without these Second Skin bandages! They are amazing protection for sensitive spots in her pointe shoes.

The other item we routinely buy is Nexcare Blister Prevention Tape. This stuff is amazing. And so much cheaper on Amazon. And SO worth buying!

Check them out! Happy Savings!

Get Paid for Surveys in Israel!

This post contains affiliate and referral links. I may be compensated in some way if you click a link and register or make a purchase. Thanks in advance for your support!

Back in the old days before we came back to Israel, I often answered online surveys, and I'd be paid pocket change ($3-$5 per survey) via PayPal. It was an easy way to pad my budget - and I really missed that after making aliyah! I had thought that was all just part of my old life - and obviously, I am no longer eligible to answer US based surveys. But then I discovered that it doesn't mean I can't still get some extra cash here, as there are survey sites here as well!

Click to go to Panel4All!
Click to go to Panel4All!

First, signed up for Panel4All a while back, and so can you. This site works differently than what I had gotten used to before I made aliyah - they don't pay in cash. Instead, participants earn points that can be cashed out for gift cards. Depending on your demographics, you'll be invited to answer different surveys. I usually get several emails a week about surveys and when I have 5 minutes, I answer them. Sometimes the surveys close out before I get around to answering though, so don't be surprised if that happens from time to time.

I've added a few more survey sites to my repertoire, and I figured some of you out there may want to use them to earn some side-money, too! I've checked out a number of different ones, and this list includes sites that are specifically for Israel, as well as international ones. Check them out, too!

iPanel  --
you'll have to answer a long survey to complete your registration, but then you'll be able to start earning credits toward a gift card!

Midgam Panel -- this site pays out via Paypal or gift cards, you'll be able to choose what's better for you when the time comes. Paypal seems to charge fees for this, so I prefer the gift card option.

SekerNet -- this site pays via check or bank transfer when you reach the minimun payout threshold of 55nis.

PanelView - this site has some ability to function in English - mine defaulted to English once I answered the survey and told them my first language is English!

MoBrog - this site is in English, but I'm not sure if all the surveys will be in English. Definitely worth checking out!

I'm also a member of "MySeker", and they do email referrals. Please drop me a note at ester@kosherfrugal.com and I'll send you a link to join!

I hope you found this list helpful - I know some people use survey sites as their "side hustle" successfully, and I hope you can too!

Feel free to share this list with others who may want to make some side income answering short surveys!

Another way to get FREE things!

I'm going to assume that if you're reading this, you really appreciate FREE stuff! Sometimes, the only free things you can get are pretty useless junk, but sometimes there's something really worthwhile out there!

Here's a way to get points towards a VERY WIDE variety of free things - if you're a member of Clalit Mushlam.

So if you are, indeed, a member of Clalit Mushlam, here's what you need to know:
You're paying them a monthly premium for the privilege of membership, and you can get discounts on things and perks, like the ability to see a mushlam doctor for much less than the cost of going private. So here's a perk you might not have heard of:

Clalit Active. It's an app that encourages a healthy lifestyle, and you accumulate points. You can redeem those points for rewards - things like gift cards and sports equipment!

Now, everyone knows I'm not big exercise buff, but even I go walking and eat things and drink water, so it's pretty easy to get points! I've already picked out the reward I'm working towards.

Want in on it? Just click this link from your phone to get it! And be sure to add in referral code JPAJKYK for a sign up bonus - there's a section called מישוש קוד מתנה where you can put the code in for a 200 point bonus!

Have fun! Feel free to share this post with anyone you know who might want to join!

My favorite way to shop - with FREE Shipping and low prices!

This post contains affiliate links. This means that if you click on a link and make a purchase, I may receive a small commission, at no additional cost to you! Thanks for your support!

I've been shopping a lot online, but you do have to be careful and check prices. Some things really work out to be a great deal, and others really don't save you any money, so I really recommend employing ALL of your smart shopping techniques!

Sometimes, I have one large-ish item I want to get that is close to the free shipping threshold, so I look around for things to add in that are inexpensive and make sense to buy.

Here are some of my favorites:

6 pack of toothbrushes (name brand, even!) with caps, for about the same as ONE of these costs at local stores.

Bic ballpoint pens in large packs for unbelievably low prices.

Citronella candles that often drop in price so they are less expensive than what I find locally

Potholders

The possibilities are endless, but I really try to order things I need and will definitely use, and I recommend you do the same!

A word about international shipping: Lately, my orders have generally been arriving well ahead of schedule - they seem to be building in a lot of extra delivery time to cover worst case scenarios, but most packages arrive much faster.

You'll see them before you checkout, so don't worry about surprises (and sometimes it's still worth it to pay taxes! I've ordered my share of taxable items). You will need to enter the recipient's ID number at checkout too, so the package can clear customs, whether or not your order is taxable.

Hope you found this helpful! If yes, be sure to find me on Facebook and join my shopping groups (here and here)!
