So, What's the Deal with Amazon International Shipping? I've got news!

Maybe you've already heard that Amazon has resumed shipping to Israel? I posted here last week that they have, but shipping fees were an issue. And then I went on to post how many items have a shipping fee of about $10.

And yes, they do. Thousands of items are now shipping to Israel, with a line about shipping costing about $10!

So today I decided to investigate further, and I was so excited to discover that with 5 items in my cart, each of which had a shipping fee between $9 and $12 listed, the total shipping fee was MAJORLY reduced and came to $22 and change.

Now, you might think this sounds like a lot to pay for shipping. And it might be - it depends what you're buying. For me, this price was totally reasonable because 2 of the items I was buying are just NOT AVAILABLE in Israel! The other 3 items I bought, while they can be bought locally, were priced at 50% - 80% lower than the local equivalent. So I decided the $22 charge STILL made sense! And yes, I kept my order to under the $75 taxable threshold, and hopefully the packages will be delivered to my door next week!

I've still got more items on my wish list, but I'm spreading out my purchases! I'll keep you posted when I get back to my, um, research (shopping?)!

And yes, they have. Thousands of items are now shipping to Israel, BUT....

But some things have quite reasonable shipping fees.

Let's look at watches today, because someone in my household asked me about those.


I was checking for men's watches, under $50. And happily, most of the ones I found that ship to Israel have low shipping fees - about $10, some less (some maybe a bit more).

Here's one that's a combination analog & digital watch and basically has all the features we were looking for. It's $27.99 plus $10.78 shipping. We couldn't find one like this for this price anywhere near us! 

For smaller wrists, there are Boys' watches - here's a Timex for boys for about $13 and about $10 shipping.

If you're looking for something in a higher price range, you can get a Smith & Wesson watch with a titanium case for about $60 and about $10 shipping. Still no import taxes!

There are also lots of women's watches that ship for about $10, too. I'm not a big fashionista, but Amazon has every style you can imagine!

Maybe you've already heard that Amazon has resumed shipping to Israel? I know I've been hearing rumors floating around about this lately. So I decided to take a break from everything and browse to see for myself!

And yes, they have. Thousands of items are now shipping to Israel, BUT....

And it's a big BUT. None of them have free shipping. And some of them still have EXORBITANT shipping fees (I checked out a FitBit for about $70 and shipping was $40! um, no thanks. That's a pretty small item for a pretty high shipping fee!). 

But some things have quite reasonable shipping fees.

Let's look at shoes today.


These women's sandals, for example. They are priced at $23 and shipping is $10.81 - Still quite a high percentage but not a bad shipping rate for shoes. And we all know that shoes are one of those things that we all lament are WAY too expensive in this country!

How about Clarks shoes? I picked this style at random - and they are priced at $44 and shipping is about $12.

Men's shoes shipping rates were higher, but that's probably because they tend to be larger? Anyhow, the ones I checked ranged from about $15-$25 in shipping fees. Still, it might be worth it, considering that you might find your shoes for half of the retail price in the mall here!

Stride Rite shoes - lots of these ship to Israel for about $10 in shipping.

Some shoes have higher shipping fees, so check carefully before you click buy, and know what you're about to buy!

Overall, I think it's a great time to buy shoes from Amazon if you know what size you need. I'm all for avoiding the mall and getting things delivered to my door for a reasonable price! And that's what I found. So now, I'm heading back over there to find the shoes I've been looking for (nope, nothing too fashionable. I'm really looking for something super comfortable)!

Today's deal is PERFECT for those of you, like me, whose kids constantly ask for expensive biking accessories.

My kid has been bugging me to get cycling gloves for him. So I finally agreed. And then -- I was shocked when I saw the markup at all the local stores (and even the internet-based Israeli stores)! I mean, serious price gouging. We are looking at about 80 shekels per pair, even for the cheapest ones!

So I decided to ebay them - you've got to see this!

Check out the screenshot on the left here - you can find this listing at https://ebay.to/2w3UPFt -- I searched ebay, and discovered that even if I buy TEN pairs I will spend about 70% less than that. (ok, I'm definitely looking at the less expensive lines... but still!!!)

I'm ordering several pairs of these right now! I'm not going to kid myself and think they'll last forever, but at this price point, I honestly don't care very much. Biking is a really pricey hobby and I've got to find ways to help my son keep it up, without going broke!
