Sorry for the late notice, I have had personal things to take care of and this slipped past me.

 

Residents of Far Northern Israel - it's back! Here's your chance to get a really affordable eye exam and glasses if you missed it a few weeks ago.

Today, Thursday March 9, 2017 you have another chance to get subsidized eye exams and glasses, again in the Golan. You'll be able to get a pair of glasses - frames + lenses for just 100 shekels! There is an option to have this fee waived in case of need. Please send a text to 052-4701380 to request a waiver.

 
The event will take place at Mercaz Tze'irim in Katzrin (Library building, rear entrance). It's sponsored by "Pitchon Lev" and "Ezra Ba'Re'iyah".

Eye exams are available from 11am - 6pm

Hope this helps some of you out there! There's been a lot of discussion about the cost of glasses lately.
I'm sure there will be similar programs in other towns - please let me know if you know of any!

Food Recall - Smoked Salmon (Again)

Smoked Salmon seems to be a really problematic product here in Israel.
Over the years, I've reported numerous recalls from various companies that produce smoked salmon.

Today's recall is for the following product:

"2 Fishermen" brand ("Shnei HaDayagim") Cold-Smoked Sliced Salmon Fillets, vacuum packed smoked salmon.

The packages are marked with product code p-1702-0103, and have an expiration date of 10.03.17

The fish product mentioned above may contain listeria.

Consumers are asked NOT to eat this product, and to return it to the place where purchased.

Food Recall - Tara Milk

Tara Dairies announced that a small number of cartons of 3% milk, mehadrin kashrut, 1 liter cartons, with expiration date 24.3 do not contain regular milk. They were filled in error with chocolate milk. (Or was this an Adar prank? I wonder...)

The chocolate milk is safe to drink, but may not be what you expected will come out of the carton!

Consumers who purchased the mis-filled milk can contact customer service at 1-800-777-333 to arrange for a replacement.
