Two more Food Recalls

Today, two food recalls were announced (press releases can be found here and here):

1. Frozen Corn that may be contaminated with Listeria

Brand: HaMuvcharim SheBakfu'im 
Product: Frozen Corn Kernels
Package Size: 1 kg and 2.5 kg packages
Use by Date: 25.9.19

Despite the fact that this product has cooking instructions to boil before serving, and boiling should kill listeria, the product is being recalled. Anyone who purchased these should return them to the store where purchased. If you have questions, please contact Hamawi Bros., Ltd. at 02-651-9099

2. Whole Techina that may be contaminated with Salmonella

Brand: Galilee Hives (Mechaveret HaGalil)
Product: Whole Techina, imported from Ethiopia
Package Size: 380g and 720g
Barcodes: 7290000411682 and 7290000411699
Use by Date: all expiration dates thru 2/2020

Anyone who purchased these should return them to the store where purchased. If you have questions, please contact customer service at 04-694-7826

Food Recall - Chumus and Techina (Israel)

Sorry for not getting online until now! I just saw this recall that was posted before Rosh Hashana -- here's the info:

Brand: Dani Maadani
Product Name: Chumus ("Salat Chumus") and Techina ("Salat Techina")
Size: 4 kg, 3kg, 500g, 250g
Date: Production dates from 1.9.2017 an 8.9.2017 (inclusive!)

The products are being recalled due to possible contamination with Listeria.

Please return the products to the store where purchased, and request a refund.

Recall - Institutional Size Tahini (Techina Golmit)

Unilever announced a recall of it's sesame paste (techina golmit) produced by Al-Waadi - RJM Food Industries, sold in industrial size containers, due to positive tests for salmonella contamination.

The affected products were sold in 5 kg and 17 kg containers.

The recall affects the batch produced on 23.6.16 with expiration date 23.6.17

This recall affects only those who bought industrial size containers of tahini, but I'll be on the lookout for the trickle down effect. I am guessing there will be further recalls by other companies who purchased this batch.

Food Recall

S.H. Salatei HaShef (ס.ה סלטי השף) has announced a recall of the following products:

Chumus, 700g, production date 8/12/15, expiration date 28/1/16

Chumus, 3kg, production date 6/12/15, expiration date 28/1/16

Chumus, 3 kg, production date 9/12/15, expiration date 29/1/16

Red Cabbage in Mayonnaise, 200g, production date 10/12/15, expiration date 10/2/16

Turkish Salad, 200g, production date 1/12/15, expiration date 1/3/16

Eggplant in Mayonnaise, 200g, production date 22/11/15, expiration date 21/1/16

Techina, 500g, production date 13/12/15, expiration date 13/2/16

Techina, 200g, production date 22/11/15, expiration date 22/1/16  

Lab tests show that these products may contain Listeria. Consumers are asked NOT to eat these salads. Anyone who has purchased them should call customer service at 054-263-8586 or 04-647-3996 to arrange for a refund or replacement.

Food Recall (Israel)

The Ministry of Health has announced another listeria-related recall.

The affected products are Home-style Chumus Salad ("Salat Chumus Beitit") and Home-style Techina ("Techina Beitit"), manufactured by "Slatei Picnic 2000".


The recall affects ALL 200g and 3kg packages with expiration dates through 4.8.2013.

Consumers who have purchased these products are advised NOT to consume them.
