Magazine Subscriptions - Trial Deals!

This post contains affiliate links. I may receive a commission if you click a link and make a purchase. Thanks in advance for your support!

One way I get my kids to read is to find magazines they enjoy. They love the "sound byte" effect of short articles with glossy pages that don't require hours and hours to get through, especially with Hebrew reading (as olim, don't we all struggle with enjoying our Hebrew reading sometimes?). With magazines, they can read an article in a short time, put it down, and come back later.

I'm pleased to be able to share a bunch of deals with you that will allow you to check out some magazines for your kids (in Hebrew) for just 10 nis! They're great for rainy winter days!

National Geographic Kids (Hebrew edition), 2 issues for 10nis

Pod Kipod - this magazine is intended for beginning readers. You'll get 2 issues for 10nis, plus a free gift!

Gaolaso (formerly SuperGoal) is a soccer (football) magazine - so if your kids are sports fans, get them reading about what they love! Your trial subscription comes with a poster and those popular cards, too!

Maariv for Children + National Geographic Kids is a great combo deal - you'll get 4 issues of Maariv for Kids and 1 National Geographic for Kids!

If you're trying to get your kids reading more in English, check out this deal - Jerusalem Post Kids!

These deals are only available for delivery to Israeli addresses.

Happy reading!

UPDATED February 11, 2018 - You can still take advantage of these deals!

Right now, as we start 2018, I'm pleased to share a bunch of deals with you that will allow you to check out some magazines for your kids (in Hebrew) for just 10 nis!

Pod Kipod - this magazine is intended for beginning readers. You'll get 2 issues for 10nis, plus a free gift!

Zebang Comic books - comic books get a bad rap, but really ANYTHING that gets kids reading improves literacy! So don't knock the comic books! The Zebang comics have been read by Israeli kids for the past 20 years! You'll get 2 issues for 10nis!

Gaolaso (formerly SuperGoal) is a soccer (football) magazine - so if your kids are sports fans, get them reading about what they love! Your trial subscription comes with a poster and those popular cards, too!

Maariv for Children + National Geographic Kids is a great magazine for young scientists! You'll also get Maariv for kids with this trial subscription!

Maariv for Teens is a magazine written and photographed by and for teens, and has been for over 60 years! You'll get 4 issues with your trial subscription!

I am going to assume that these deals are only available for delivery to Israeli addresses.

Happy magazine reading!

Homeschooling Deals!

This post contains affiliate links. If you make a purchase after following one of my links, I may earn a small commission, but it doesn't cost you a single agora extra! Thanks!

Hi all!

I wanted to share a few of our homeschooling resources today! I know you don't all homeschool, but lately I have gotten a lot of questions from parents whose kids go to school - either about how they can also homeschool, or how they can enrich their children's education during non-school hours.

So I'm writing a really quick post for all of you - there is a lot I'm not going to be able to include here, but some of this should get you started! Here are some of the resources we use or recommend.

I wanted to get my kids reading more in Hebrew. Since my kids like science, I picked up a bunch of science mags in Hebrew. And I just discovered this one called Galileo Tzair that is specifically written for kids ages 7-15. It's a great way to introduce Science concepts AND strengthen Hebrew reading comprehension at the same time! (Sorry, the deal I had ended. Feel free to check back if it comes up again!)

Anytime you're looking for ideas for curriculum, free or not, I highly recommend checking out the Homeschool Buyer's Co-op. Many deals are online and can be purchased by anyone in the world. Other deals, that are physical materials, often require a US shipping address.

Educents also has great deals for homeschoolers and for enrichment programs. They often have great deals on certain books - like the Life of Fred series - but I do recommend comparing prices before you buy.

I also rely on our Kindles - we get lots of free books for it, as well as inexpensive books from Amazon! My kids are HUGE readers, so the kindles are often in use.

If you're homeschool students are ready to start studying at a college level, the Open University allows homeschoolers into their programs, though you will need to attend a guidance session and interview and convince them you're ready! Check it out today!

Every so often, we take a day to go to a Science Museum. MadaTech has Free Wednesdays still - though it's coming to an end soon. Check it out soon!

I hope to start sharing homeschooling ideas and resources about once per week, so be sure to check back here next week for more!

Let me know in the comments what you're looking for!

Forget rote learning that doesn't resonate: learners follow the Fred and his pals through life and learn math concepts along the way. Kids sometimes don't even know they're learning math until they're told! Each book has a topic, like Apples, Butterflies, and Cats. My kids ABSOLUTELY LOVE Life of Fred!

Homeschool Resources for a GREAT Price!

As some of you already know, our family homeschools our children. We put a lot of time and energy into our homeschooling, both with experiential learning and more traditional book-learning (as a matter of fact, we LOVE books). It can get quite expensive, with four children on different levels, so we always look for ways to get the best educational resources we can.  We especially like those that can be used on multiple levels, or can be used for multiple children over the years.

This means I am usually on the lookout for educational deals, and one site I use is Educents. Here are a few of their great $20 and under deals, that are perfect for homeschooling or for supplementing your kids' school curriculum!
