Assuming I can breathe tomorrow, I'll cook for Shabbat... (I'm having something of an asthma flare-up which was exacerbated by smoke in the air from a nearby brush fire today, and I'm trying very hard to avoid the emergency room. Good luck to me...)
Here's the plan:
Some sort of cold soup (help!)
Chicken with date honey (again. trying to use up the date honey)
Barley with mushrooms
Roasted Zucchini
Fresh tomatoes and cucumbers
Baked Potatoes
Fruit for dessert
...
I started this site because so many of the frugal food sites I love are just jam-packed with recipes that are decidedly un-kosher. And lots of other frugal living sites are extremely religious, and not in a Jewish way. And that just wasn’t working for me. I hope that I can share some ways to be frugal AND kosher. And share some of my thoughts about our life since making Aliyah. Oh, and if you share my recipes, menus, musings, etc, please link back to this blog. Thank you.

So, in the end I didn't make a cold soup. My family was less than thrilled with that idea. I made some vegetarian "liver" (anyone have a better name for this dish?) instead!
ReplyDeleteAnd I found a chocolate wacky cake (a classic depression-era cake recipe, without any eggs) in the freezer, so I pulled that out as well!
Shabbat Shalom
